Gio Aplon Starts for Stormers

Dewaldt Duvenhage

Springbok Gio Aplon will be returning to the Stormers line up, and the team is in high spirits, particularly since he will be playing in Friday's Super Rugby game against the Highlanders at Newlands. Aplon replaces Conrad Jantjes who will be rested as a precaution and Captain Jean de Villiers is glad to have him, taking over the Schalk Burger who is injured. Jean de Villiers said that the team was in a terrific position to win against the Highlanders since they have replaced one Springbok with another, referring to Aplon.

De Villiers also said that they didn't play their best game last week and that they have a duty to the fans and everyone watching on television to put on a good game. He said that the team will try to make a spot for Aplon so he is able to perform well, and said that he will hopefully help the team to get back into shape again. The Stormers recently played the Cheetahs on Saturday at Newlands, a game that ended 21-15. Jaque Fourie, like Aplon, returns to the team, but coach Allister Coetzee will keep him on the bench this time around.

Also, one more change is in order. Dewaldt Duvenhage will cahnge out with Ricky Januarie. The Highlanders and the Stormers share one thing in common – they are both unbeaten so far this season, which should make for a great game. For the Stormers, the lineup included number 15 Gio Apolon, 14, Danie Poolman and number 1 CJ Van Der Linde. Also playing will be number 2 Deon Fourie, number three Brok Harris and number four Rynhardt Elstadt. Number 10 Peter Grant and number 11 Bryan Habana will also be on the field. Replacements include Malherbe, Januarie and Koster.
